Everybody loves to trade these days.
One will sell his opinion for applause, another will rent out his dignity in installments, a third will pawn love like it's an old piece of clothing. Everything ends up on the stall - from loyalty to conscience, it just depends on how desperate the buyer is and how ruthless the seller.
And all of that can somehow slide. People are good at swallowing lies, nodding along to half-truths and applauding scams. But there's one deal that never closes: the one with God.
Because with Him you don't get to play "give and take". When you try to outsmart Him, to sign some imaginary contract - "a little something from me to You, and You give me peace in return" - you just end up empty-handed and with an even emptier soul.
And then it starts: you sleep, but you don't rest. You keep quiet, but there's thunder in your head. You laugh, but your stomach clenches as if you'd swallowed a stone. Because God doesn't send lightning bolts to remind you that you cheated - it's enough for Him to take away your peace.
And peace, ironically, is the one thing you can't buy for all the money in the world.
Try finding it on sale, at a discount, at an outlet - you won't. Because God has no marketplace. And by the time you figure that out, it's too late to ask for a refund.
