When He Cheats but Accuses You

By Sanja Delić2 min read

Being the other woman means living between the lines. You have no right to ask, no right to demand, and you give anyway. But what happens when the man who is cheating on his wife - starts accusing you of cheating on him?

That's the moment the mask comes off. When I got his messages, the ones full of threats and veiled blackmail, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Belgrade is small, everything comes out," he wrote. Small? Yes, small enough for everyone to know he's married, and small enough for everyone to know what I never dared to say out loud - that every time we met we were hiding, and every emotion of mine was a luxury with no warranty.

He didn't give me a name, he didn't give me a source, he gave me nothing but suspicion. And in that suspicion, I sensed the truth: he was already somewhere else. His words weren't a sign that he cared, but an excuse to run. When a man starts accusing you without proof, it's not your fault - it's his way of getting rid of you while washing his own hands clean.

The irony is obvious: he, the man with a wife at home and me on the side, is trying to brand me as the unfaithful one. He, who was never completely mine, is now playing the betrayed husband.

And that's when I realized - his problem isn't me, it's him. His feelings are already somewhere else, and all he left me is the ashes of his accusations.

Maybe Belgrade really is small, but the truth is big enough to fit into a single sentence: when a man accuses you without proof, it's often proof that he's the one cheating - not you.
