When Pain Becomes a Springboard

By Sanja Delić2 min read

They say tears aren't weakness, but a way to wash out the pain. But I always wondered - do tears really wipe away sadness, or do they just water down your makeup?

One moment you're crying because someone broke your heart, the next you're wiping mascara off your cheeks and noticing that your eyes have never looked clearer. Life's irony - we see most clearly only after our vision has blurred.

I've always believed there are two types of women. The ones who surrender to their pain and stay trapped in it forever... and the ones who cry to the very last tear, then get up, put on their favorite heels and move on as if the pain had been just a mandatory stop along the way.

And it's exactly those second women who become the most dangerous. They don't look for rescue in someone else's arms, they don't wait for a knight on a white horse, and they don't go back for crumbs of attention. They know a tear is the surrender of a moment, not of a life. And that's why, once they move on - nothing can stop them anymore.

Maybe that's why men fear most the women who have cried. Because when a woman has survived her own tears, she has survived them too. After that - she's free. Free to love, to choose, to leave, to start over... and free to never again settle for less than she deserves.

And then I asked myself:
are the truly dangerous women the ones who never cry...
or the ones who, after crying, become the most beautiful version of themselves - untouchable, fearless and free?
