They say life isn't fair. I say life is just a bad dealer. Each of us gets dealt cards at random, no rules. Some get an ace up their sleeve in the form of a supportive partner, others get a pair of clubs - a job and a kid - and try to play the hand as if they were holding the whole deck.
And while men sit at the table, sure the game was made for them, more and more women are realizing the rules were written against them. So it's no wonder that more and more women are turning their backs on that old game and deciding to play their own. Its name is - feminism.
Feminism used to be the word they scared us with - today it's the word we save ourselves with. Because when life deals you a bad hand, you have two options: stay in the game and hope for a miracle, or stand up, flip the table and say - "We're playing by my rules."
Maybe men still believe they're the kings of the deck, but women have figured out that the point isn't to be ladies - it's to become queens who run the whole table.
And as I looked at my cards, I wondered: is feminism really a choice... or is it the only ace life has left us?
